Redbird Ranch Fare – Why

We chose the Cardinal, Redbird, for our name for an important reason. Each time we look at it we remember how the Redbird got his beautiful red coat. The ancient Cherokee story tells us that Cardinal was originally brown. However, because of his willingness to help others, Wolf provided him with a new bright red coat. So it is our duty to earn our “red coat” each time we interact with our customers.

We chose to use the word Fare because it gives an air of times gone by. Fare was often used to describe a range of food and drink, such as, they fared sumptuously. We hope your family will dine sumptuously on the foods we provide.

It is our goal to make the name Redbird Ranch Fare synonymous with helping others and eating well.

Redbird Ranch Fare – How

After studying ecology from the gulf coast to the Canadian prairie, the Parmans have come to believe that it takes healthy soil to produce healthy plants, healthy plants to produce healthy animals, and healthy animals to produce healthy food for humans.

Redbird Ranch Fare began practicing holistic resource management in 1980 on the northern plains. We progressed though the stages of student, to practitioner, to simply managing holistically. The soils and plants in one of our pastures is simply a part of our ranch; which is a part of our ecosystem; which is a part of our business; which is a part of our town; which is a part of our community. Simply put, we are part of the whole.

Redbird Ranch Fare – Business

Because of the way Redbird Ranch Fare views its place in the whole, we view our business differently than most businesses. Although profit is important, it is not the sole reason for its existence. Profits are to support the growth of the people and the community. That is why we support community organizations like 4-H, Boy Scouts, Lions Club, Three Rivers Community Enrichment and Cherokee Eye.

Our motto has always been "from our pasture to your plate". As a family, providing ethical & sustainable Oklahoman food products to the public has always been one of our ideals. We strongly believe that knowing where your food comes from and supporting local family businesses are important practices every family should employ. As such, we strive to employ them ourselves through support of other local businesses and organizations such as Three Rivers Pecans out of Atoka, OK, whom we know through involvement in Oklahoma 4-H programs.

We hope that you will choose to support our family and we are always here to answer any questions, concerns, or to assist in any way.

We are Redbird Ranch Fare. Bringing your family the highest quality Fare while earning Cardinal’s Red Coat every day.
